A leading commentator on India's foreign policy and an expert on South Asian security, great-power relations in Asia.

Prof. C. Raja Mohan is a Visiting Research Professor and former Director of the Institute of South Asian Studies, National University of Singapore. He has also been a Senior Fellow with the Asia Society Policy Institute in New Delhi. He was previously Professor of South Asian Studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, and at the S. Rajaratnam School of International Studies, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.

Prof. Mohan is one of India's leading commentators on India's foreign policy. He has been associated with several think tanks such as the Institute of Defense Studies and Analyses, the Centre for Policy Research, and the Observer Research Foundation. He was also the founding director of Carnegie India, New Delhi.

He was the Henry Alfred Kissinger Chair in International Affairs at the United States Library of Congress, Washington DC, from 2009 to 2010. He served on India's National Security Advisory Board. He led the Indian Chapter of the Pugwash Conferences on Science and World Affairs from 1999 to 2006.

He is a contributing editor on international affairs for The Indian Express. Earlier, he was the Strategic Affairs Editor for The Hindu newspaper, Chennai. He has published widely on India's foreign and security policies, Asian geopolitics, and the global governance of advanced technologies. He is on the editorial boards of several Indian and international journals on world politics. His research interests include Asian geopolitics, Indian foreign and security policies, and the global governance of new technologies.

Among his recent books are The New Asian Geopolitics: Military Power and Regional Order (2021), Modi's World: Expanding India's Sphere of Influence (2015), and India's Naval Strategy and Asian Security (Routledge, 2016) (co-edited with Anit Mukherjee) and Samudra Manthan: Sino-Indian Rivalry in the Indo-Pacific (Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, 2012).

Professor Mohan has a master's degree in nuclear physics and a PhD in international relations.
